Balanced Body® Reformer Instructor Training takes you from your first spring change to confidently teaching advanced programming on the most versatile piece of Pilates apparatus ever created. Three intensive modules (Reformer 1, 2, and 3) — each 16 hours — give you the full repertoire, the cueing craft, and the programming intelligence to teach anywhere in the world.

All Reformer modules are led by Maria Leone, a Balanced Body® Master Instructor with three decades on the equipment.

THREE LEVELS

A progression built for mastery.

Each level is a 16-hour hands-on apparatus intensive. Take them progressively — the work builds.

MODULE 01

Reformer 1 - Foundational

Foundational repertoire, spring theory, and the architecture of a beginner Reformer session.

Prerequisite • Movement Principles (M.01) • 20 Reformer classes • 1 year experience teaching movement

MODULE 02

Reformer 2 - Intermediate

Intermediate work — including kneeling, standing, and side-lying exercises with deeper programming.

MODULE 03

Reformer 3 - Advanced

Advanced repertoire, complex transitions, and elite-level programming for athletic clients.

Hours • 16 hours
Prerequisite • Reformer 2

Beyond classroom hours, Balanced Body® certification also requires observation, practice-teaching, and personal-session hours before the final written and practical exam. Most students complete the full Reformer track in 4–9 months.

Considering Reformer Certification?
Learn about prerequisites, practice hours, anatomy requirements, teaching opportunities, and the steps to complete Balanced Body® Reformer Certification.

  • Yes. Movement Principles (M.01) is the required prerequisite for every Balanced Body® certification track, including Reformer.

  • No — Mat (M.02) and Reformer (M.03) are independent tracks. Many teachers go straight into Reformer after Movement Principles, while others train across multiple modalities.

  • Yes. Every Reformer module is a hands-on apparatus intensive — you'll spend the majority of your hours on the equipment, both as student and teacher.

  • To become a fully qualified Balanced Body Reformer Instructor, students must complete Movement Principles, Reformer 1, Reformer 2, and Reformer 3, along with all required coursework, assessments, practice hours, observation hours, student teaching hours, and final testing.

  • Students must complete 30 personal Reformer practice sessions, 30 observation hours, and 90 student teaching hours before certification.

  • Yes. Anatomy coursework must be completed prior to taking the final certification examination.

  • The Reformer Certification program requires 214 total hours, not including anatomy coursework.
